November 2018 Payment

November 7, 2018

Dear Friends,

Attached is a copy of the payment of 2,400 euros made today (effective tomorrow) to support the school cafeteria for all of the school’s more than 300 students over the next 30 days, that is, until the break for the Christmas season.

We are also sending some photos received in recent weeks from the Twabuka school and periodically posted on the project’s Facebook page, which show scenes from the cafeteria during both breakfast and lunch, the (hard) work of the cooks, exams (in this case for 7th grade), and grocery shopping at the Maraamba market in Livingstone.

October 2018 Payment

October 8, 2018

Dear Friends,

Attached is the payment for the next thirty days of school meals (daily breakfast and lunch) for the more than three hundred students at the Twabuka school. The bank transfer is made using your donations and those received from our friends in the United States, who have been steadfastly supporting us since last February to cover 50% of the costs.

Below are some of the photos sent from the school early this afternoon, showing today’s breakfast and lunch at Twabuka: it’s a festive occasion, and the children are laughing heartily… That’s why we named the association “Kuseka”—because in the Nyanja language, it means “laughter.” All children have the right to an education and to laugh, and your support goes a long way toward making both of these things possible at this school.

August 2018 Payment

August 30, 2018

Dear Friends,

Thanks to everyone’s compassion and generosity, we continue to be able to give the young students at Twabuka the right to attend school with the dignity that should be a given for every child in the world: guaranteed daily meals. First it was lunch, but since last February, thanks to the help of our friends overseas (who sent their contribution just today), we’ve also been able to provide breakfast.

This Septembermarks our FOURTH YEAR OF SUPPORT for the school in Twabuka, and as of December, we will have been carrying out PROJECTS in Zambia for 6 YEARS. Hundreds of children have received (and continue to receive) our help over the years to continue their education and meet their most immediate needs. The girls at the Lushomo home and the Zwelopili reading room know that in Rome (and beyond) there are people who are constantly thinking of them: It is only right, then—especially since our friends in Livingstone keep asking us to do so—to begin this school year with a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. In the Nyanga language, we say “zikomo.”

July 2018 Payment

July 1, 2018

Dear Friends,

Attached is the periodic payment made to the Twabuka school in the amount of 2,400 euros, which consists of our contribution of 1,200 euros and the contribution from our American friends, which doubles ours. With this money, the school district is paying for meals for the 334 children, including both breakfast and lunch.

June 2018 Payment

June 7, 2018

Dear Friends,

Attached is a copy of the payment of 2,400 euros sent to the Twabuka school’s account, which will help cover the costs of the school cafeteria for the next thirty days. Hundreds of meals will be served for breakfast and lunch to all the boys and girls who attend the school (and to their teachers, as a teacher once pointed out to me).

I can confirm that the amount of 2,400 euros includes the contribution (this month, approximately 1,185 euros—the figure varies slightly due to the euro/dollar exchange rate) from our friends in the United States who decided to join us several months ago.
